Sweet Little Roasted Meat Buns

Ingredients:

1 portion of Basic Sweet Bun Dough

Filling:

1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp chopped onion

Sauce (mixed)

½ tbsp light soy sauce
½ tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
½ tbsp plain flour
½ tbsp corn flour

300g roasted meat (char siew), diced into little cubes

Glazing:

1egg, lightly beaten with
⅛ tsp salt

Method:

  1. Filling: Heat up oil, sauté chopped onion until fragrant. Pour in mixed sauce and keep stirring until it thickens. Add roasted meat and mix well. Dish up to cool. Then chill in the fridge for 2 – 3 hours before using.
  2. Divide dough into 20g portions and shaped into rounds. Flatten, wrap up 1 tsp filling and shape into rounds again. Arrange onto a baking tray, 3cm apart.
  3. Spray with water and leave aside to rise until double in bulk.
  4. Glaze with beaten egg and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180ºC for 8 - 10 minutes until cooked and golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven, brush top with melted butter while still hot to give buns the shine.
  6. Leave to cool before serving.
